Just as we were thinking that classic 3-reel slot machines couldn’t offer any more surprises, along comes this gem of a game by Play’n Go. On first appearances, Ring the Bells is just like any other 3-reeler with its use of traditional fruit icons such as lemons, apples, strawberries and pineapples as well as some other slot machine classics like golden bars, bells and lucky red 7s.

However, as you start spinning the reels you will realise that there is more to this vintage game than first meets the eye. That is because the slot machine doesn’t just offer 1 solitary payline, but 8 ways to line up winning combinations of symbols (well, there are actually more than 8 ways to win with this game, but we’ll talk more about that later). These paylines run horizontally from left to right, diagonally from left to right and vertically from the top of the reels downwards.

Visually, the game has a bold and colourful appearance which is perhaps a little bit dated by contemporary standards. Plus, the game screen is a little bit cluttered since all of the paylines are outlines on the reels and there is a rolling paytable screen at the side to remind players of the payout schedule and certain bonus features. Of course, these extra features are useful to keep you in tune with the action but such a design doesn’t lend itself well when it comes to playing this game on smaller mobile screens.
